Hi, my name is Ebony. I live in Temple, TX and I've had six and a half years of experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because of my grandmother. I helped take care of her before she passed away, and numerous of other people. I love my job. I love what I do. And that's why I became a caregiver.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, please be patient. Because I've learned along the way that every patient or person that you take care of is different. They have different needs. And you have to be patient. And you have to think of them as if they were your blood relatives. That's the only way that you're going to be able to understand what they're going through. So my advice to a new caregiver is to be patient and to think of them as one of your loved ones as if they're your grandmother, or your mother, or your sister, or somebody like that.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Miss Coleen. She recently passed away. I can never forget her because she always had a smile and that would just light up the room. And she had a scent that you can smell from a mile away. You'll know that it's her. And the scent was, it was calming. And it would always put me in a good mood. And she gave me so much knowledge and wisdom.
