Hi, my name is Elizabeth. I've been a caregiver for 25 years, and I live in Long Beach, CA.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandmother was an RN for 45 years at a nursing home and had got me a job at the nursing home. And I just seen people needed, pretty much, good care, so I started doing that and that's where I ended at.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
I learned that being a caregiver that it takes a lot of love and care. And, also, helping the ones in need that can do and pretty much, sometimes, can't do these days. Learning new things each day, that every person is different. I learned working with sick people. And so my experience with being a caregiver has been, truly, a good blessing for me.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget, her name was Jenny. Very lovable person, she had sickle cell and it was kind of hard for her to maintain through the day. So when I come, I make her day great for her.
