Hi, my name Elizabeth, and I live in Los Angeles, CA and I have 11 years of experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because it's always been a passion to take care of others.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be have a lot of love, and compassion and just love what you do. As a caregiver, you have to have a lot of patience.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget, I was working at a nursing home, and actually, I was an activity assistant, and there was this patient. She didn't want to come out to join the other residents. So just the way I thought of things at that moment, I took it upon myself to go to her room and talked to her and tried to convince her to come and join everybody for an activity. She refused at first, but I kind of talked her in. I sat there, I explained to her what we were doing and stuff like that, and she was very hard to actually convince. So for me to convince her to come out, and she was willing to do that, to me, it made my day and because she would never interact with other patients. She was always in her room isolated. So for her to come and actually had her come out and me explained to her, it made me feel good about what I was doing as a caregiver and as an activity assistant.
