Hi, my name is Eric. I live in Los Angeles, CA and I have been a certified nursing assistant and a medication technician for four years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver after understanding the ropes that my mom had taught me. While she was a nurse, she had been diagnosed with diabetes and CHF, so I became the permanent caregiver for her. And I fell in love with it, and I practice it ever since for four years now.
What advice would you give to a new caregiver?
My advice for a new caregiver would be to always work with compassion. Always respect the patient or the client. Always chart your daily activities with the patient or clients. And always show dignity and loyalty with the client and the company that you are working for.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I'll never forget will be Miss Patricia. Since I have previous experience with psychiatric patients, I have became very trustworthy with the patient, and she loved my sense of humor. I have taken her mind out of this situation that she was going through in life, and she became my biggest supporter, and she always loved seeing my face when I came into work. And we just grew a good relationship together, and I made sure that the patient care services was very essential to every part of my being while I was at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions.
