Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
Hi, I'm Eufrocina and you can call me Shanna for short. And I'm living in San Jose, California and I have eight years experience in caregiving. I started as caregiver in a Care Home with ten residents. And after four years, I decided to work one-on-one, in-home care. For me, it' a rewarding job because I'm earning and at the same time I'm helping the elder.
What experience do you have as a caregiver?
I have experience working with clients with dementia, sundowning, and with Parkinson's, and those disabled persons. When working with a client with dementia, you must have a lot of patience and you must be very positive and you should make them very happy, avoid arguing, and do all the positive, good things to make them happy.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
What are your strengths as a caregiver?
The most favorite client that I have is a 93 years old. And she was a musician before. She has dementia, and sundowning, and also has cancer. But I treated her like my mother and I always make her happy and busy all the time. We went to the doctor, the parlor, to a show, the opera show.
People told me I'm a good caregiver because I'm very compassionate, patient, caregiving, and a loving person. And I alway make my client healthy, happy, and clean, organize everything, and I give the best I could. I give everything that I could make her comfortable.
