Hi, My name is Eva Trask and I've been a caregiver, CNA, PCT, for almost 15 years. I live in Buena Park, CA.
How did you get into caregiving?I became a caregiver when my husband was diagnosed with brain cancer so I took care of him for two years until he passed on. And my love and respect for caregiving started when my mom got sick in the Philipines and I couldn't go home to take care of her. Since then, I always tell myself if I have a chance to take care of somebody's loved ones I will be there for that person. And that's how I want to be a caregiver, or why I am a caregiver.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice for a new caregiver is learn to love the job, respect the patient and their privacy. Be there when your patient just needs somebody to talk to, or somebody to share with, or somebody to cry on, just be sensitive to their needs and love your job.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
Her name is Jenny, she's a beautiful soul full of life. She is loving and respectful of me. So Jenny will always be remembered in my heart and in my mind because of her kindness.
