I am Fabiola and I live in Palm Beach, Florida. I have been a caregiver for the last ten years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my father-in-law got very sick and he had no one. My mother-in-law had already passed away and I took care of him for a few months and then I took care of my mom who is very old herself and sickly. At one point, both my father-in-law and my mother were in hospitals in different cities and I was running back and forth. When my father-in-law came out I was with him then once they both passed away, I decided that it would be a good thing for me because I do have the patience and I care and I do like it. So, I have been doing it for the last ten years.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a caregiver would be to go for it if you really, really care about people if you really have it in you.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I would never forget is Regine. Her and I had great times when she had events like she took me to Ohio to a wedding and we had a great time. Another big event that we actually went was at Donald Trump's house for a birthday party and so many others, always had a great smile when I come in to see her, and always look forward to seeing me and I look forward to seeing her. We cook together. We learned a lot from each other and I will never forget her.
