Hi, my name is Faith. I live in Vallejo, and I have three years of care-giving experience and one year of medication technician.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I know this is a first stepping-stone towards the nursing field and medical field and the decision of me being a caregiver is because I grew up with my grandparents, and I've seen a lot of people or families not taking care of their loved ones, or don't have time to take care of their loved one. So I want to take the opportunity for me to take care of the other people that want. I was inspired from my grandparents since they raised me and I want to return the favors that they did to me by being caregiver, knowing how to take care of elderly people, so I can do it to other people and to my grandparents.
What advice would you give to a new caregiver?
My advice to any new caregiver will be if you don't know, or you're unsure of, how to do something in the care-giving field, I would advise you to ask someone who is more experienced to teach you the right and proper way to do it. Don't just assume that you're going to do it, just thinking of doing it, even though it's wrong. Just don't be afraid to ask someone who experienced more, enough for you to learn as a new caregiver.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is the one that was really sweet to me and who actually remembers my name and actually knows my voice and actually knows my routine. He's my favorite client or resident because he treats me like his granddaughter. That's why it touches me whenever he calls my name because I feel like he is my grandfather here in America
