Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
I learned in the Phillipines that being a caregiver is very improtant in the U.S. I was employed by a carehome, working for 6 patients at a time. After 2 months, I became the administrator of that facility
What do you enjoy most about being a caregiver?
I enjoy being a caregiver when my clients are satisifed and happy, and wake up the same. I also like to give their familied piece of mind.
Who was your most memorable client?
The first client that comes to mind is a lady who was 102 years old. She had a mental disorder but I really enjoyed my time with her, and unerstood her.
What are your strenghts as a caregiver?
My clients describe me as a jolly person who is flexible, dependable and trustoworthy. Any requests my clients have I can do, whether it's taking a walk, playing a game, what ever it is, I will do it.
What piece of advice would you give to a new caregiver?
You have to have a passion for caregiving, and be honest, that's what is most important!
