Hi, I'm Geraldine. I live in San Francisco, CA and I had training in Pacifica Nursing’s visitation center for one month.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because for my loved ones, for my family. So I would know more how to take care of my family. And I love to help people and to take care of people, especially my family and my friends.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to be more patient to your patients. More sincere and take care of them as your own family, as your own mother, father. Be more loving and understanding to their situation.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I would never forget is-- we used to call her nanay. In Tagalog it's like mother. In Filipino, she allowed us to call her that one. She's a Filipina. Whenever I see her, I remember my grandmother. We talk a lot about her life and she's really amazing. I really admire her because she really is trying to help herself to recover, to go home because she misses her family. I love giving back to her and the morning routine and I really miss her.
