Hi, my name is Grace. I live in Round Rock, TX. I have nine years experience as a caregiver.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I have a passion caring for the elderly, the sick and the needy. And that's what drove me to doing that. And I have worked in a hospital and that's how I got interested to become a caregiver.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to take care of the elderly or whoever you are taking care of, take care of them as your own family member. And be compassionate and be patient to them, that you are doing it like you are caring for your own mother.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is the one I took care of, a very confused client, and could not remember my name. He would ask my name throughout my shift. For the whole 12-hour shift, he would ask my name and I would keep telling him my name. But I never got tired of telling him my name. And every time I went to the bathroom, when I came back, he thought I was new. And he would keep asking who I was. And I would tell him my name, who I am and what I'm doing. My entire shift and until it ends, he would go on asking. I was so intrigued by him,and I felt more alive and I felt like I would like to take care of him more and more, and that is something I will never forget about that client.
