Hi! My name is Grace. I live in Indio, CA, and I have seven years of caregiving experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I know how supposed to help others when needed, being able to understand the patients need with caring and understanding, and just being there for all type of needs, that they need.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a caregiver would be, of course, you would have to have patience, is number one key. Also, again, with caring, and understanding, and compassion for their resident's need.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Mr. Stanley. He had mild cognitive impair. He always knew who I was every time I entered the room. And he would be so funny in his ways and his jokes. He was so kind and gentle. And, of course, I would have to be gentle with him and understanding. Does he know his needs and his preference, and exactly at what time he would want it, and how he would like it. Again, this was something I would always remember about Stanley, just because he was so kind and gentle. And because, again, with his mild cognitive impairment, he was just so funny in his particular ways. That's something I would always remember about Mr. Stanley.
