Hi, my name is Imelda. I live in Anaheim, CA. I have been a caregiver for over 10 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because of the experience I had after taking care of my mom. She had a stroke. And also, I was taking care of my dad, he was blind of old age. And my brother, he was suffering from AIDS. That inspired me to become a caregiver.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to be very patient, to be very sympathetic with people you take care of, to listen, and to pay attention to details. Be very loving and very caring.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Liveran. She passed away. I will never forget her because we had a very good bonding, like very good friends, and she loved me so much. We would sit and talk like friends. We had a good company and that helped me to take good care of her conveniently. I will never forget her. We were very, very close.
