Hello, my name is Jacinta, and I live in Banning, CA. I've been a caregiver for eight months.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because of my aunt. I watched her take care of my grandmother when she was younger, and I've also watched my mother in the field of CNA. And when I moved here to California, I decided that it was something that I wanted to do and to help take care of people. And also I have children, so it's just a field that comes naturally.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, interact with them, to let them know that you're there for them, make sure they're with someone when they need to talk. Let them know that you enjoy your job and you enjoy being there, helping them when they need the help. It's just all about understanding. It's all about showing love.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Ray. He was one of the funniest guy that lived in our facility. He would have a joke every day for you, no matter what, no matter what your day looked like, no matter how big of a smile you had. He would brighten your day with his joke. He always brightened our day, even in middle of the night. He was there and we all miss him a lot.
