Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
Hi, my name is James. I live in San Francisco, and I've been a caregiver for about a year and a half. I became a caregiver because I have this passion to help other people that are in need.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
Of all the people that I care for is this one woman. She's very sweet, and she makes me feel valued, and she appreciates everything that you does for her, and it's a wonderful time, working with her. I just love her for that. The care I provide for her is assist her with everything that she needs. And what I enjoy most is reading newspapers with her, reading books with her, asking her things that she enjoys when she was younger, and basically talking to her is an amazing experience for me. There is not any downtime working with her.
What piece of advice would you give to a new caregiver?
What is your proudest moment as a caregiver?
One piece of advice for a new caregiver is try to know your clients. The place when they really know what they wanted and what they do before they were transferred to a facility, because they would help you and them on providing the care that they need.
The moments I am proud as a caregiver is when the client appreciates your work, especially the relatives commends you for something that you have done for them, especially on cases where you gave more than what they expect for you.
