Hi, my name is Janesha. I live in Vallejo, CA and I have been a caregiver for about 2 years now.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because when I was younger, I helped my auntie out with my grandma, she was on bedrest with heart fib. Then so when I graduated high school, I started working in a program that did that, and I stopped, and I'm interested in doing it again.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to have patience with the client, not to get too personal and close, because that can affect it, but to have an understanding of them to try to help them as much, and just be patient with them, make sure everything gets done, and be very careful.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Tina. Me and Tina, we did many things together. I had to ride in an ambulance with her. I and Tina would walk and go grocery shopping, we went to the mall. When we were at her house, I had to help her with eating her food and stuff, and we just had some good, fun times, we would listen and sing music together, it was nice.
