Hi. My name is Janice Thomas. I've been a caregiver for 2 years and I live in Phenix City, AL.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I was helping a friend out. She was working for a time at the hospice on second shift so she asked me,
Did I wanted to work on first shift for her And that's how I became a caregiver.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be you have to love what you do. You just can't go for the money.
You have to love what you do because it's not no easy job. But if you love what you do, taking care of older people, it will work.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client that I will never forget was a lady named Sarah. She was the sweetest lady that I had ever met. Every day for lunch she would send me out to get her some bagels. And so one day, I went there to the restaurant to get her some bagels, they was out of them. So I ended up bringing her some macaroni and cheese. And she was very upset. But she went on ahead and ate the macaroni and cheese. But I said that tomorrow they said they were going to have some more. And she was like, "I really hope so because I'm not no big fan of macaroni and cheese." And that just tickled me so much
