Hi. My name is Jannae. I have been a caregiver for over 5 years, and I live in the city of Long Beach, CA.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver at the age of 16 to my now-deceased grandmother. She was diagnosed with a lung disease called sarcoidosis, and ever since then, the love I have of caring for people has changed my life.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver is to have great patience, and to push off the love and the energy that you have from one to the next, and make sure that your client is enjoying their life - just like you enjoy your life - and make them happy.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I would never forget - him and I, we shared the same last name. He started off with a rough patch with me, only because he wanted to see if I cared enough to stay or to leave. And as he seen that I was not going to let up, and just let go, and let him just push me away - I stayed and I shared my experience with him - the love I have for people, and the love that I want him to have for everyone around him, and to know that I care enough to stay, and I will never leave his side, and I will make sure that he enjoys his life just as much as everybody else around him, and he's no different from anyone else. He's just the same as me and everyone else in God's heart.
