Hi, my name is Jasmine. I live in Fort Worth, TX. I have two years in caregiving experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because of a loved one, which is my grandfather. I cared for him a year, up until he passed away from congestive heart failure.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to always work with your heart. Don't let any outside problems come with the job. It's a new journey. You can find a bond with people and you learn their ways along with your experience to make their lives better and healthier.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is my grandfather Herman. In the time when he became weak and sick, I was right by his side, from the VA hospital all the way to home. My grandmother worked full-time while my papa was sick so I was there giving him insulin, his UV, IVs, feeding him, running errands and taking him where he needed to go. I mean, it didn't feel different. It just felt like I was able to help more, so it made me feel better. I hate that he's not here with us but I know up until his last days of his life, I did my best and did what I needed to do to help him.
