Hi! My name is Jazmen. I live in the city of Hemet, CA. And I've been a caregiver for five years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I have received exposure through taking care of a relative who has suffered from many medical issues. And also, a lot of my relatives in my family, they are also in the medical field as well. So I've been inspired by them to get into the medical field and work as a caregiver.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, when taking care of a patient who may be difficult or who may have some emotional challenges, I would advise the new caregiver to be patient, because always remember that the patient is going through a lot with their health and it may cause them to act outside of their normal character. And not to take it personal. And just be understanding and patient with the client or the person that you're taking care of.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Mat because this patient was very friendly. Although he suffered from quite a few medical issues, he would try his best to be positive. And he was cooperative. He was a strong client, patient. He was a strong patient. And he was determined to get better through his disability. He's inspired me just in life in general.
