Hi, my name is Jean. I live in Pittsburg, California. I've been a caregiver for six years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my husband a disease called hemophilia. I've been taking care of him since we've been married, and that inspired me to take care of other people, as well. I love what I do through caring my husband, and I still do it because it's in my heart to care for people that need help, like my husband.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to the new caregiver will be, be patient, love what you do, you're not doing it for any other reasons but to care for that person. Do not take anything personal when you're taking care of people that need help.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?A client I will never forget is a lady that I'm taking care of now.
She's blind, she's 92-years-old. She cannot see, but she can communicate with me. There are days she emotion, and I'm so glad that I can help her in every way that she needed help. I do my best to make her happy. I do my best to do my job, and every time I go to her house, she's happy to hear my voice. We laugh as friends, and that makes me love what I do and to continue taking care of her. She's a very good lady, and I love talking her, and I'll never forget every time she hears my voice. It makes me happy I make her happy.
