Hi, my name is Jennifer and I live in Hanford, CA. I've been a caregiver for 15 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my aunt got in a car accident and became quadriplegic. My grandma needed help taking care of her four days a week. I would help my grandmother get her ready, change her and do physical therapy. After she passed away I just decided I want to continue doing it.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to be patient, kind, and attentive. But most of all, patient.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget would be Stephen. Every Sunday we went to the movies. That was kind of our routine until one night after the movies we were crossing and a car drove by. I went to get him out of the way, but I got hit by the car. He was my most memorable client because we always had so much fun.
