Hi, my name is Jennifer. I live in San Jose, CA and I've been a caregiver for about 3 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I work really well with others, especially with elderly. In the beginning, it was through a family friend, so we started there. Then my second experience was caregiving for two years straight, and it was once again for a family friend.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice for a new caregiver would be to always listen to the patient that you have or the individual that you're working with. Make sure that you hear all the needs that they have and meet them completely so that way they feel like they've been heard and you're actually there for them and not just to do a job.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Fred. He was my most recent client and he was always cracking jokes and being very chipper about any situation he was in. I always felt very warmed when I think about him and remembering that life is too short to worry about silly things and to get too upset about things that aren't that important.
