Hi, my name is Jese. I live in Mountain View, CA. I have 10 years of experience as a caregiver.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love caring for the elderly because I have been caring for my mom and dad for quite awhile. I'm used to doing that work. I have been a caregiver for more than 10 years. That is why I have been a caregiver for most of my time.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to new caregivers is that first, know the client, know their needs, and schedule your time and focus on what you need to do to your client is happy and prepare for the unexpected. There are some things that you will not expect to happen but you should be able to take care of it at a proper time and ensure that your client is happy all the time.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client who I'll never forget is a person who I took care of at Los Carlos by the name of William. He was unable to do anything. He was bed ridden. I always wake up in the morning, get him ready, take him out of bed, take him to the bathroom. I had to assist him everywhere. He goes and he always thank me for the work that I did with him when I always helped him out. That is why the client is unforgettable because of the nature of care that he needs and which I did my job professionally and also calmly and until the day he died. The client's wife who was with him was really thankful of the way that I handled the husband until he died. They always wanted me to come over to help them out, even today. It was unforgettable. It is something that I always treasure. It is about five years ago.
