Hi! My name is Jessica. I live in Escondido, CA. And I've been a caregiver for six years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver when I was working at my other job as an accounts payable and I got laid off. I couldn't find a job and I ended up getting a caregiving position. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to stay with this position. So, it's been already six years and I enjoy everything of it.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to be very kind, loveable to the resident. Be very patient. And motivate. I think motivate your resident on a daily basis. Being a caregiver is very challenging, but keep positive and keep moving forward.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will not forget, her name is Sarah. Sarah, we have a connection. And it's just amazing to hear her say that I'm her best caregiver. And she's had, oh, maybe like 15 caregivers within 10 years. And she's so happy that I'm working for her, that she even cries and tells me and hugs me. I love when she gives me little hugs throughout the day. So that definitely will be my person, Sarah.
