Hi my name is Jessica. I live in Redwood City, CA and I have eight years of caregiver experience and I'm also a certified surgical technologist.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandmother was suffering from dementia when I was about 17 years old and I took care of her a lot until she passed away from dementia and I just started to work in the hospital and care for infants and children and adults and just kept progressing in my career.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice would be to be very patient and work every day like you want to and treat everybody the way you would want to be treated and treat everybody as if they were family, your family.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget was someone that was suffering from dementia. She had passed away because everything was failing and I had sat in her room for about 12 hours before she had left and she told me just everything, inspirational things about life, and her and I just bonded and that's one thing that really stuck to me throughout these eight years.
