How did you become a caregiver?
The reason why I've been wanting to get into caregiving is because it's something that I've always wanted to do. I started having kids at a young age, so I put my professional dream on hold. But now that my kids are older, it's something that I want to pursue now.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
I've been providing care for the past year and a half for my grandmother and my grandfather. You have to have a lot of patience. It's tough at times, but it's something that I enjoy doing. I enjoy helping people, helping them do things that they are not able to do on their own, and, like I said, it's my dream.
What piece of advice would you give to a new caregiver?
So one of the things I've learned with working with my grandma is keeping her happy, keeping her stress-free, keeping her mind off of things by reminding her about our childhood, her grandkids, when we were little, Christmases, all the times we spent together, things like that, not letting her stress, taking her outside, taking her for walks, helping her in the garden with her roses and everything.
