Hi, I'm Jocelyn Oreto. Just call me Joy for short. I live here in Newark, CA. I have work in Danville, in San Ramon, for almost eight years. How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because, I know for myself that I'm a compassionate, considerate, patient, responsible, reliable caregiver and I'd like to take care of elderly because who knows, in the future, we may need to take care of our own family. What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver is to first of all, be patient, understanding, kind, loving, and you need to love your work.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is this 93-year-old woman who still can manage her own finances. She has adding machine there, she writes her own checks, and she can still walk in the hallway on her own. Then she showed me some of her painting and art. She has a computer room. At 93 years of age, she can do some computer. It's really amazing, and she's very kind and loving also.
