Can you tell me a little about yourself and how you got into caregiving?
My name is Jocelyn, and I live in Santa Clara, California. Caregiving wise, I've been in this business for two years, and it is working well for me. I became a caregiver because I wanted to do more with my time. I'm semi-retired and wanted to fill my time with more productive activities. Hands Caregiving was an option for me because I enjoy working with people. I think that caregiving is a very normal job, and what I have observed with people that I work with is, they all want love and empathy. Empathy is something that I know that I can provide, and will be able to continue to provide, as long as I'm working with people that need my care.
What piece of advice would you give to a new caregiver?
What is your proudest moment as a caregiver?
A new caregiver doesn't always need the skills to do the job. What they need is a pure heart to go with. That's where you get started. Your integrity as a human being and the quality of care that emanates from your person, that is what heals the patient.
My proudest moment as a caregiver is when you're able to establish rapport with your patient, work well together, and enjoy each others company. Job well done.
