Hi, my name is Joseph. I live in Long Beach, CA and I've been a CNA for two years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I guess it's kind of in the blood. I have family members that are in the medical field. I have a lot of relatives that are nurses. So I've been around it a lot, and I just love to help people out.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to have lots of patience because depending on the patient, you never know what they're going through, or what they're going through in their life. So, I would just advise a new caregiver to have patience and to be sincere.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget his name was Joseph, just like my name. My name is Joseph. And the first time I met him, he asked for my name, and that's what we had in common. And he liked to joke a lot. And that's why I liked him a lot, even though that some of his jokes were towards me. That's kind of how we got along. But I'll never forget him because he was my favorite, and I guess I was his favorite. No one else couldn't really get his personality but me. And I was always assigned to him because we knew each other. We had an understanding. But unfortunately, he's passed now, so that's why I would never forget this patient.
