Hi, my name is Joshua. I live here in Riverside, CA and I've been a CNA for three months.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my husband is older than me and I want to take care of him when he gets into the point that he can't do it by himself anymore. Also, my mother-in-law have Alzheimer disease and I am helping my sister-in-law taking care of her.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to the new caregiver would be, be patient, always smile but not really that insulting smile or too much because sometimes it depends on the patients too. Sometimes you have to read the patients first and you have to ask to be with them.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I would never forget is a very nice lady, it's really easy to make her smile, just provide care for her and just be nice to her. She's so happy and she appreciate my work so much and she ask me to have a pencil and pen and when I gave it to her, she cried and it really melt my heart because I remember my grandmother who just passed away when I'm with her, it makes me feel like I was hugging my grandmother because of her because she have the same attitude that she have.
