Hi, my name is Joy. I live in Azusa, CA and my experience is one and a half years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I am a nurse by profession. And at the same time, I have a family, which I had to take care of - my kids before, and likewise, what I have experienced in the UK, as a caregiver. I love to care for my people around there, especially the seniors, who are so fragile, so weak as I can see. They really need assistance and my care, and really need for somebody to take care of them, and love as well.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to have a huge patience, have love and affection for those you are caring. It is really very important, the feeling that you have to put on to the people that you care.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Roland. Actually, this was five years ago. He is very funny and very talkative and likewise, I talked to him. I entertained him and he's happy with the way I care for him. He is sometimes so glum and just stares at the window, looking far, without even looking for something, but I can see the way he looks at the window. His mind is so lonely. His face is just so glum. Sometimes I have to let him enjoy, entertain him, so it doesn't have to be sad. Sometimes I feel what they feel also.
