Hi! My name is Juanita. I live in Desert Hot Springs, CA and I've been a caregiver for 10 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I want to be an LVN. And to start my career and make a better, I thought I became a caregiver. I've been doing it for 10 years. I love doing it. I love my job. I love taking care and helping people who cannot help theirself. I'm reliable. I love to talk, so my communication skills are great. I love being around others. And I just love my job. I love helping others. I love to take care of other people.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, know what you have to do before you get to the job. And have great communication skills. And know the town that you're around, so it's easier for you to get around and help with your client, whatever they need.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I'll never forget is John. He was so amazing. eventhough he had dementia, he never forgot about me. Even when I was not on the job, he would call me. And I would have to tell him, "John, I'm not working for you no more." It was so funny, but I loved to be around him because he was so silly. And he loved Mexican food and frozen yogurt, so that was something we went and did every day. I could never, ever forget him because he would just call me out the blue.
