Hi! My name is Julie. I live in Marina del Rey, CA, and I've been a caregiver for over ten years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver over ten years ago because that's all I've really known. My mother takes care of people. She has been for over 30 years. And I also grew up in a very large family, so I took on the role of caregiver when my mother was at work, and this is what I love to do.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to take your time and breathe. And always open your heart and be prepared to love the person that you're taking care of because it always eventually happens.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget would be Jean. She was always a great person, so caring, but she wasn't always caring. She was a bit difficult at first, but once we warmed up to each other we remained great friends. And I will always remember her for her selflessness. I loved her caring nature and her perseverance through all difficult obstacles in her life.
