Hi! My name is Juliet. I live in Rancho Cordova, CA and I've worked as a caregiver for over eight years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I had to care for my sick mom who had stroke. Unfortunately she passed away. Since then, I have this desire to work with the elderly, to support them, care for them. I am a kind, caring person, a kind nurturing person, so that made me want to care for other people.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to be more empathetic, to be patient, and to listen.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is a lady that I worked with. She was very, very kind. Although she was in so much pain, she always had smile on her face. She always made sure that I was comfortable doing my job, when in fact, she was the one that needed care. She would always tell me, "Oh, Juliet. Do you want a cup of coffee?" "Oh, are you okay?" "I hope you are not doing too much." She was so caring, and yet, she was the one who needed care in the world. She was just so sweet. Very sweet, sweet lady. I will never forget her.
