Hi, my name is Karen. I live in Los Angeles, CA and my years of experience as a caregiver is 15 years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandma didn't have proper care when she had fallen ill and she was a double amputee. It inspired me to go into nursing and that's why I became a caregiver.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, always have patience, always look for signs of different changes, and always listen to that person.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is, her last name is Randolph. She was a very precise woman, very refined, and just was a wonderful person. She didn't have the greatest personality, but she taught me a lot of things about being just a really good listener and following directions because she liked things a certain way. You had to be a special kind of person to work with her, so that's the person that I would probably never forget, Miss Randolph.
