Hi, my name is Katherine. I live in Marietta, GA and I have six years experience as a caregiver.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I love helping people. I enjoy going the extra mile over and beyond to assist my client, my patient, as well as my resident.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to have patience. Don't rush any tasks that you have to complete. Listen to your client. Listen to the patient. Listen to the resident. Don't rush anything. Carefully wash your hands before and after each and every task.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Mr. James. When I was currently working at BrightStar as a caregiver, Mr. James pretty much has to go to chemo treatment the very next day. And he was pretty much frustrated, worried, and stressed out because he didn't know if anybody was going to wake him up as far as getting him there, to the treatment. So he was worried, stressed out. So I pretty much told Mr. James, "I could just go home, and I can get my alarm clock since I don't use it." So I went home to get my alarm clock for Mr. James. And I snuck into his room, so he can go to chemo the next day because I didn't want him to be worrying or stressing himself that night.
