Hi! My name is Kayoko. I live in Antioch, CA and I have years 17 of experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I went to school in 1998 to become a certified nursing assistant and a certified home health aide along with my CPR, and I was certified all the way until 2011. And then, I went back into it and then I became just a regular caregiver because I let my certification lapse after I took some time away from it. I just like helping people. I have a big heart. I care for people. I just want to help people who are in need.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be respect people's privacy, be kind and patient.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is a client who had an MS and I had to do completely everything for the client. I administered injections. I administered his foley catheter, he had a pubic one. I did everything. It was amazing. I administered his medication three times a day. It was a lot of work but it was rewarding.
