Hi, my name is Kiera. I'm currently living in Hawaiian Gardens. I have been a caregiver for three years now.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I noticed how much I liked helping people as well as putting others before myself, and I just get some type of satisfaction knowing that I can help other people who cannot help themselves.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to you, caregiver, would definitely have to be that in order to successfully do your job and not only make your patient feel comfortable, you have to love what you do and to, literally, care for them.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A patient that I would definitely not forget would have to be Jose. When he was hospitalized in our unit he was dying from cancer. He had a lot going on but he remained positive, he remained funny, and tried to make light of every hard situation that came his way. He was definitely very genuine and very thankful, which made me want to care for him that much more. But the amazing thing about him was that he made me feel like I could talk to him about anything.
