Hi, my name is Kim. I've been a caregiver for almost 10 years now and I'm looking to relocate in Sacramento, CA.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I truly have compassion and love. I just cannot describe how I truly feel about the care that we need to give to our elderly. My mom passed away about six years ago, and I always felt like I could have done more for her.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, the most important thing that we have to learn is patience. If we don't have patience, then we can't do our job. My advice to them will be, also, put a smile on our face. If you walk into their home, their room, or the hospital room, or any place that they are lying or sitting, if you have a smile on your face, it just gives them a sense of faith.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is Mr. Williams. He comes into the hospital all the time. Unfortunately, it's because of his respiratory. And this past Friday I was off a couple of days, and then when I came in on Friday, he saw me. He was just so happy to see me. Because every time he comes, me and him have a wonderful relationship.
