Hi, my name is Kimberly. I live in Moorpark, CA and I've been a caregiver for about two years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because when I was 17 I took care of my aunt. She was in a really bad condition. She was diagnosed with diabetes. And since I remember I was always there for her. And I feel like she had a great impact in my life. Besides caregiving I also did some babysitting, and with the kids that I've actually babysat I've had a great bond. Even with my aunt like going through a lot, I was there for her, I helped her out a lot. And I love helping. I am very lovable, and I feel like that not only about like of course taking care of them, but showing passion, showing them love, and just being there for them. That's what makes the person feel better.
What advice would you give to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be respectful and patient. The best that you could do is motivate the person you're with, and even if their life is in a really bad situation, let them know you're there for them.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I will never forget would be Aurora. She was very caring and loving. The most that I like about her was the way she was with everyone and her surroundings. Even when she was fighting diabetes, she knew that she would make a great impact, not only on her kids but on her grandchild. And that is like something that she would fight for, and she showed so much passion about life. And that made me feel like if I have life, I should appreciate everything that I have, and fight for what I want to work for, and follow my dream.
