Hello, my name is Kristen. I live in Sacramento, CA. I used to be a CNA and I worked as a CNA for four years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I care about the elderly and I love taking care of them.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, be kind. Be loving. Be gentle. Listen to them.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget her name was Gladys. She was very quiet with her walker. One day, I was in the hallway talking to another coworker and I didn't hear her. And she came up behind me, and pinched me in my behind, so I turned around and I looked at her and I said, "Hi Gladys, how are you?" And she said, "I'm good, but nobody visits me." And I said, "Well, I love you." And I gave her a hug and I walked away. The next day, she would go around and pinch everybody else's behind, but not mind. And we ended up putting a sign on her walker saying, "Watch out. I pinch," with a bell.
