Hi, my name is Lacey. I live in Hemet, CA. And I have three years of experience.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandma got very ill. And I wanted to care for her and spend as much time as I can with her. And then she passed away. And I found a couple, who I absolutely love and took care of them. And they were just great people. I just loved taking care of them.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to build a relationship with them. Make them feel loved. And be there constantly to advise them and be there for whatever they need. Just let them know that they're loved. To be in their presence is all they actually really want.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Ms. Betty. She started to be delusional towards the end of her life, and I would stay the night over and work graveyard. And she would come into my room and pull off my blanket and say she needed it for the hotel that she was making. And then she would ask me who I was. And then she would always ask where her Bob was, even though he was in bed with her the entire time. And she would sing him lullabies every single night. And she was just somebody I could never forget. She was very funny, very outgoing and a beautiful person.
