Hi, my name is Lashonda. I live in the city of Inglewood, and I've been a caregiver for seven years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver, because my grandmother had terminal cancer, and I was taking care of her, and I watched her all the way until she took her last breath. I decided that I wanted to be there to help other elderly people.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, be patient, loving, kind, also be punctual, reliable, and dependable.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client that I will never forget is a patient that I had at an assisted living facility that found out that he had terminal tongue cancer. He was always smiling. He made the best out of life while he was alive, but they only gave him two weeks to live after he found out, and I was there with him through the whole time.
