Hi, my name is Lauren. I live in Chicago, IL and I've been a certified nursing assistant for seven years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because when I was young, I always wanted to be a nurse, and that was my first foot in the door. And it was something that I really loved doing, so I just kept doing it.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to always try to be on time and to never make promises you can't keep.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is my first client. His name is John. It was ironic because his name was my father's name, and that's the icebreaker for our conversations. He just was very nice and loving and caring. And I just liked him as a person. He just was a very good person to help take care of, and he just made me feel like, "Oh, yes. I picked the right field to go into." So that's why he's my most memorable because he helped me feel like, "Yes. This is the job for me."
