Hello, my name is Lennys. I am from Panorama City, CA. And I have one year of experience with caregiving.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because ever since I was a little kid I've wanted to be a nurse, so I'm a nursing student. And I like to care and to help people. Have empathy and know what their needs are, their likes are, their dislike. Know how to approach a person with such delicacy because you know they are going through a change, and sometimes unfortunately go through that, especially when you feel alone.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, if you have a lot of residents or if you were with them and you have patients, to know how to use your time wisely, never rush with a resident or a patient. I would advice to never rush, you should always take your time, or know how to manage your time.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget is Betty. She was so sweet. And I remember she had dementia and it was the late stage. She was very sick. And I worked with her in assisted living. Sometimes a lot of residents who needed help, herself in particular. No one wanted to help her because they couldn't understand what she was going through. Because with dementia, she would forget things and she would be in another world.
