Hi, my name is Levi. I live in Fresno, CA and I've been a caregiver for two years.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I like a lot of medical associated stuff. I'm really interested in helping other people achieve their goals. I like getting people out into the community and making them feel a part of it and just living a regular normal life as much as possible and then a few individuals that I first started working with really opened up my eyes to caregiving. They just made me realize a lot about myself and about other people and what it means to be a part of someone's life.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be take it a day at a time. Be patient with every client that you have because you never know what their background and what they've been through or really what they're going through on a daily basis. So I think as a caregiver, it's your goal to just be there for them and be as supportive as possible.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I'll forget is my former client Eddie. He was a very rambunctious client. He was very creative. He liked to be out in the community and connecting with people and I really enjoyed that about him because I like to do that as well. I'll never forget all the times that we went fishing because that was his favorite thing to do and while I'm not big on it, I knew that he loved it, so I did it for him.
