Hi, my name is Linda. I have been a caregiver for 12 years and I live in Glendora, CA.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I like taking care of people of all age. Over these last 12 years, taking care of people of all age, primarily people with dementia, Alzheimer's, memory care, and also primarily in-home care, so I take care of people's homes when they're not able to or maybe they need assistance.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be, to be very patient with the person who is elderly or sick, use your compassion and know that sometimes when people don't feel well they're not always themselves. Be kind, be caring.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
A client I will never forget was an elderly woman who was 98 going on 99. She needed a lot of help because of her age and this woman had all our facilities around her, she was on the computer every day, she was a kind, and loving, and caring person, and I always had wanted to take care of somebody who would teach me and tell me things about their lives and the things that they've learned, and share their wisdom, and that's what this lovely woman did.
