Hi, my name is Lindsey, I live in Oakley, CA and I only have about six months of caregiving experience and it was working with my great grandma. I do have some experience as a medical assistant and that's what I've been for about three years now.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because I had to care for my great grandma and with that experience I would like to help other elderly people. I've just always been the one to always want to help.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to always have patience, learn your patient's personality or whoever you're taking care of, their personality, their needs, their wants, what they like and what they dislike. Just always be there for them, always listen, be kind and patient.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
I've only had one client, which was my great grandma and I would never forget her. I just had a good experience with taking care of her, helping her and being with her on her last year in life. It just made a big difference and it made me feel good.
