Hi. My name Lisa. I'm from Alhambra, CA and I have 27 years experience of caregiving.
How did you get into caregiving?
I became a caregiver because my grandparents both became ill and needed help, and couldn't afford home care.
What advice would you provide to a new caregiver?
My advice to a new caregiver would be to have patience with their client, to be understanding, and to nurse them. I think those are the key qualities in being a good caregiver. You must have compassion and you must love what you're doing. If you can have all them qualities, you'll be just fine.
Who is one of your most memorable clients?
The client I'll never forget was Margot. After she had her cataract surgery and the doctor took her eye-patch off, she was able to see for the first time in a long time and she looked at me, and we made that instant connection. She knew who I was and it was the most memorable moment that I will never forget. And she said, "Hello, beautiful." That was the just greatest thing to me, and I carry that with me always.
